The South Florida Trail Riders of Miami Dade and Broward Counties, non-profit equestrian organizations, hold a trail ride, picnic and “Cowboy Look” contest among it’s members each year at Tree Tops Park in Davie, Florida to celebrate the National Day of the American Cowboy. We are very fortunate to have the support of several of our local feed, tack and supplies venders that provide the prizes for this contest. This year we have the pleasure of a Chuck Wagon and Cattle Drive Camp display By Mr. Richard Mc Allister aka Chuck Wagon Mac. Mac can relate stories, historical trivia and the origin and purpose of cowboy gear and equipment. He will also be a judge in our Cowboy Look Contest. You must be an active member of either club to participate in the ride, applications will be available to join or renew your membership at the event. The picnic is “bring a dish to share”, the clubs will provide soft drinks and bottled water. The event is from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Saturday July 26th at the Equestrian area of Tree Tops Park just north of Griffin Drive on 100 Av. in Davie, Florida. Cowboy Look judging will take place at 3:pm and ride out is at 4:pm for a 2 hour ride and the picnic at about 6:30 PM. Join the club, join the fun and celebrate the National Day of the American Cowboy.

The Oakdale Cowboy Museum will host our Annual Cowboy Collectibles Roadshow on Saturday July 26 from 9am-3pm and on Sunday, July 27 from 10am-1p. Antique Cowboy Gear will be evaluated at a fee of $10 per piece. See rawhide briading and silversmith demonstrations. Local authors Phil Stadtler, "I made a lot of Tracks," and Major Mitchell, "A reason to beleive," will be available to autograph books. Pinal County, AZ. hosts the only regional National Day of the American Cowboy event in Arizona with four communities - Apache Junction, Gold Canyon, Superior and Florence - offering coordinated activities. The centerpiece event is the Cowtown Festival held at the 19th century ghost town of Goldfield. Activities include the Drover's Procession, the Earp-Hoilday Mustache Contest, the Hang Town Fast Draw Gallery, Luke Short Poker Tournament and gunfights, re-enactments, cowboy poets & Balladeers, trick roping, bull whip cracking and a host of other cow town entertainment. Through their hard work, integrity and honesty, Utah's Cowboys continue as an integal part in adding to the deep, solid foundation on which Utah was built and the lifestyle we all cherish, and as such deserve to be honored and recognized. On Saturday, July 19, 2008 during the 75th annual Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo, 29 cowboys representing every county in the State of Utah will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the western heritage lifestyle and to the preservation of Utah's western and cowboy culture for future generations. Honorees include rodeo athletes, Western musicians, Cowboy poets and authors, Western artists, ranchers and others who contribute to Utah's Cowboy and Western culture. The days activities starts off with a VIP dinner and reception followed by presentations in the rodeo arena to include a personalized etched stone placque for each honoree, and resolutions from Utah's Governor and Ogden City Mayor. A DVD spotlighting each honoree will be shown on the giant LED screen. A special reserved seating area will be designated for honorees and their family and friends.

The High Plains Western Heritage Center will join in the national recognition of the cowboy by featuring participants in the up-coming historic 2008 Wagon Train Ride over the Fort Pierre/ Deadwood Freight and Stage Trail. This route was used to transport goods and passengers from 1874 thru 1908. 300 riders and their wagons will make the journey from Fort Pierre starting on July 30th and arrive in Deadwood on August 15th, to celebrate the 100-year Anniversary of the route. A Campfire Series Show and western music will entertain in the afternoon. All-Day Admission: $7.00

The Prescott Regulators and Their Shady Ladies will host this gathering of award-winning Western re-enactor groups who will perform historic skits and gunfights on Whiskey Row in competition nearly a $1000. in cash prizes. Enter the largest period costume contest in Arizona, which requires authentic 1800s clothing or shop the many vendors of period items.
